history

May we introduce ourselves: Patricia  and John  Frencken, until recently owners of an Animal Clinic in Holland. Round about the start of this century we saw the light: there must be something other than life in an overpopulated country with ever decreasing freedom. Ever increasing rules and commitments, everlasting traffic jams, traffic lights and parking meters. Not in the last place inspired by television programmes like A Place in the Sun, we started to look for an alternative.

Several years followed searching for suitable accommodation. During this search, wonderful houses were encountered, but those within our budget usually had some kind of drawback: a neighbouring factory, highway or even slaughterhouse caused disillusion. All the better were we able to visualize the potential of La Vallée Corbon  when it crossed our path. Love at first sight, and in consequence we emigrated to Normandy in the autumn of 2005. We never looked back.

invitation

A large guesthouse, about the same size as our residence back in Holland, is situated elsewhere on the grounds of approximately three acres. Lacking proper respect, this is named Petit Corbon. During the renovations this was tended to first. It is now ready to receive guests. We cordially invite you to come and relax here, surrounded by nature at its best. The hamlet we live in has so few inhabitants, that the population increased by nearly 2% when we moved there with our daughter Innisfree! The charming village of Putanges with all amenities (including post office and bank) is within walking distance. Supermarket and bakery are open on sunday morning.

The Michelin Road Atlas denotes roads through areas of outstanding natural beauty by placing a thick green line alongside. If you drive down our driveway of about a furlong, you have access to a road just like that. On our own grounds you will find a real chicken castle and a cattery.Over the past few years, deer, pheasants, squirrels, wild boars, hares, owls, foxes and rabbits have crossed our path. Nowhere in the vicinity will you encounter traffic jams, parking problems or traffic lights. Peace and enjoyment of life as it was meant to be. Be part of it.
